PALET INSAAT

Palet İnşaat was founded by Mr. Sedat Üründül in 1966 to undertake various infrastructure and dam construction projects and has successfully delivered large dam, railroad, tunnel, expressway, irrigation and storage projects.

Significant examples in this area are the 2400-MW Atatürk Dam and HEPP Project (the largest dam in Turkey and Europe and which was constructed by the Ata İnşaat Consortium where he had a 35%-founder share), the Köprücük HEPP Project, and the Cevizli Regulator and HEPP Project.

ATA INSAAT

This tripartite consortium called Ata İnşaat as a partnership of Palet İnşaat, Seri İnşaat, and Enerji-Su İnşaat, three experienced contracting companies of the construction sector, was established in October 24, 1983 to participate in the construction tender for the Atatürk Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant (HEPP), where many globally recognized international companies participated as well.

This big project was awarded to Ata İnşaat as a result of the tender held. This consortium was also important since unlike the other tender participants, Ata İnşaat was formed by only Turkish companies.

The Atatürk Dam, one of the most important units in the Southeast Anatolia Project (GAP), is also referred to as the world’s largest worksite in international construction publications. It was a new record to complete the construction of this huge dam, with its main body being 84 million m3, in a period as short as 50 months and the dam gained an important place in the construction sector.

The Atatürk Dam and HEPP which started generating electricity in 1992 has a capacity of 8×300 MW. The cost of the project which has generated 50 billion KW-hrs of electrical energy to date amounted approximately to USD 2 billion.
